About

My name is laura

and I created this site to help you advocate for elephants.

I’m a lawyer and legal writer based in Washington, D.C. I served as Staff Counsel at The Elephant Project, a 501(c)(3) that develops humane economies to combat human-elephant conflict in Africa and Asia.

I started my animal advocacy journey as an intern at the Humane Society of the United States where I lobbied for animal welfare legislation and helped plan the national Taking Action for Animals (TAFA) conference.

After law school, I practiced law as a veterans disability appeals lawyer before pursuing freelance writing and editing. I still write about veterans disability, estate planning, conservation, and lots of other topics related to the law.

I feel strongly about serving as an advocate to help others speak up for themselves. If you want to help advocate for elephants, you’re in the right place.
